An Act Of Love.

An Act of Love.
God is love and so we too, must love. Love can be shown in many ways. Love God, then keep His commandments. Love one another, then how about this story.
Luke 7: 36-38 says this, “One of the Pharisees named Simon asked Yeshua to eat with him. Yeshua went into the Pharisee’s house and sat at the table. A sinful woman in the town learned that Yeshua was eating at the Pharisee’s house. So she brought an alabaster jar of perfume. She stood at Yeshuas’ feet, crying, and began to wash His feet with her tears. She dried His feet with her hair, kissed them many times and rubbed them with the perfume.”
Now you may say, “How can this be love?” Or you may say “Amazing! To have such love.” Well, here is one person’s opinion. Luke 7 continues: “The Pharisee (Simon) who asked Yeshua to come to his house saw this. He thought to himself, “If Yeshua were a prophet, He would know that the woman who is touching Him is a sinner!”
The Bible tells us this in Matthew 7:1-5, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. ‘Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”’
The Pharisee was judging this woman when in fact, the Bible tells us this in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Luke 7 continues, “Yeshua tells this story to Simon “There were two men. Both men owed money to the same banker. One man owed the banker 500 silver coins. The other man owed the banker 50 silver coins. The men had no money; so they could not pay what they owed. But the banker told the men that they did not have to pay him. Which one of the two men will love the banker more?” Simon answered, “I think it would be the one who owed him the most money.”
We owe God everything we have, and what we have to give is our lives, because God loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us. And we can not forget that Yeshua said to the Father, “Not My will be done but Yours” as He prayed in the garden before being taken prisoner. Yes, Yeshua had to make the choice to not only be obedient to the Father, but to love as He has loved. Today we can be thankful that Yeshua chose to love us as much as He loved the Father.
Luke 7 continues, “Yeshua said to Simon, ‘You are right.’ Then Yeshua turned toward the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? When I came into your house, you gave Me no water for My feet. But she washed My feet with her tears and dried My feet with her hair. You did not kiss Me, but she has been kissing My feet since I came in! You did not rub My head with oil, but she rubbed My feet with perfume. I tell you that her many sins are forgiven. This is clear because she showed great love. But the person who has only a little to be forgiven will feel only a little love. Then Yeshua said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.”’
John 13:34-35 says this, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 tells us this, “If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.”
The greatest gift of all is love, why? Because it knows no boundaries. Love sees a person in need, and love only knows it has to meet that need.
Because the woman saw the need to do what she needed to do, even though she knew that she would be rebuked by those around her, she did what she needed to do because she loved the Messiah. John 3:16-18 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
The woman believed and because of that she was forgiven. But it was great love that caused her to have such great faith.
