All That the Lord Has Spoken We Will Do

Sundown on Thursday will mark, according to the Biblical calendar, the beginning of Shavuot, also known as Pentecost. Shavuot is traditionally associated with the giving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai, so in this article I want to focus on two ways that the Israelites responded to the message on Shavuot: with obedience, and with fear.

The Law of the Lord is Perfect

In a previous blog post, I went through Psalm 1 and tried to explain how it relates to holiness. Today, I want to do something similar by taking a look at Psalm 19:7-8. What Does This Rite Mean to You?

The Biblical season of Passover and Unleavened Bread began last Wednesday evening and will come to a close tomorrow. Every year, Passover is inaugurated with a seder, a ritual meal that commemorates the liberation of Israel from their slavery in Egypt. Yeshua (Jesus) imbued this ritual with new meaning for believers, commanding us to do it in remembrance of Him. We must continue to be inquisitive about why we do what we do and personally identify with the events we are commemorating.

We will become preoccupied with other trials that will rise in its place, both public and private, large and small. In spite of every external threat and concern, we as believers have been given access to a peace which transcends circumstance.

Selfishness and Selflessness Amid COVID-19

Crises, big or small, have a way of revealing what we're really like on the inside. They can bring out the best in us, and they can bring out the worst in us. The current coronavirus pandemic has been no exception to this rule. We have seen publicized instances of greed and selfishness as well as great acts of kindness and self-sacrifice. The key to responding the right way during a crisis is by walking in the Spirit and striving to put others before ourselves on a daily basis, through the mundane and the exceptional alike.

Holiness in Psalm 1

We don't always think of the Psalms as being a source of moral teaching. But there are many lessons in the Psalms that might unintentionally get passed over if we only turn there when we're looking for a song. As a good example, I'd like to look at the very first Psalm and what it teaches us about holiness.
